About the Journal

Journal Title: Indo-Eurasian Journal of Thermal Engineering and Material Science (IJTEMS)

Established: 2014

Publication Frequency: Quarterly (4 issues per year)

Language: English

1. Journal Overview

The Indo-Eurasian Journal of Thermal Engineering and Material Science (IJTEMS) is a premier international, peer-reviewed scholarly journal dedicated to the dissemination of high-quality research at the intersection of thermal engineering and material science.

IJTEMS serves as a vital platform for researchers, academicians, and industry professionals to bridge the gap between fundamental material properties and their practical thermal applications. As a Diamond Open Access journal, we are committed to the democratization of science, ensuring that neither authors nor readers face financial barriers to accessing knowledge.

2. History and Publication Frequency

IJTEMS has over a decade of continuous publication history, evolving to meet the needs of the scientific community.

  • 2014 – 2024 (Bi-annual Era): The journal was established in 2014. For its first eleven years, IJTEMS operated successfully as a Bi-annual publication (2 issues per year), building a robust archive of foundational research.

  • 2025 – Present (Quarterly Era): In response to a significant increase in high-quality submissions and the growing global interest in interdisciplinary thermal-material sciences, the journal officially transitioned to a Quarterly publication schedule effective January 1, 2025.

    • Issue 1: January – March

    • Issue 2: April – June

    • Issue 3: July – September

    • Issue 4: October – December

Online First Policy: To ensure authors' work is available to the scientific community as quickly as possible, IJTEMS utilizes an "Online First" workflow. Articles are published electronically immediately after final acceptance and proofreading, before being assigned to the specific issue of the current quarter. This ensures that there are no unnecessary delays in the visibility of peer-reviewed research.

3. Aims and Scope

The primary aim of IJTEMS is to publish original research articles, comprehensive reviews, and technical notes. We specifically encourage interdisciplinary studies where material science and thermal engineering converge.

Core Research Areas:

A. Thermal Engineering

  • Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer (Conduction, Convection, Radiation)

  • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) & Simulation

  • Cryogenics, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning

  • Combustion, Propulsion, and Engines

  • Thermal Management of Electronics and EV Batteries

  • Renewable Energy Thermal Systems (Solar, Geothermal, Biomass)

B. Material Science

  • Nanomaterials and Nanofluids

  • Phase Change Materials (PCMs) & Thermal Energy Storage

  • Composite Materials, Ceramics, and Polymers

  • High-Temperature Materials and Thermal Barrier Coatings

  • Smart Materials and Shape Memory Alloys

  • Thermophysical Property Characterization

Article Processing Charges (APC)

The Indo-Eurasian Journal of Thermal Engineering and Material Science operates under a Diamond Open Access model.

    • Zero Fees: There are NO Article Processing Charges (APCs), submission fees, or page charges for authors.

    • Financial Support: All costs associated with the editorial process, peer review, hosting, and archiving are fully borne by the publisher.

    • Philosophy: We believe that the ability to publish high-quality research should be determined by scientific merit, not by an author's ability to pay.

IJTEMS values the time of our authors and is committed to an efficient, yet rigorous, publication process. While we aim to publish accepted papers as quickly as possible, our priority is maintaining high scientific standards. Below is the step-by-step timeline for a typical manuscript.

Stage 1: Submission & Preliminary Screening (Weeks 0 – 2)

  • Submission: The author submits the manuscript via the online portal.

  • Technical Check: The Editorial Office checks for compliance with formatting guidelines (font, structure, figures).

  • Plagiarism & Scope Check: The Editor-in-Chief screens the manuscript for scope relevance and scans for plagiarism (Similarity Index must be <15%).

  • Outcome: Manuscripts that fail this stage are Rejected immediately (Desk Reject) to avoid wasting the author's time.

Stage 2: Double-Blind Peer Review (Months 1 – 3)

  • Reviewer Assignment: Qualified manuscripts are assigned to at least two independent experts in the field. (Note: Finding appropriate reviewers can sometimes take 1-2 weeks).

  • Review Period: Reviewers are given 4–6 weeks to evaluate the technical quality, methodology, and novelty of the work.

  • Reminders: Automated reminders are sent to reviewers to ensure timely submission of reports.

Stage 3: Editorial Decision & Author Revision (Month 4)

  • First Decision: Based on reviewer reports, the Editor communicates one of three decisions:

    1. Accept with Minor Revisions

    2. Major Revisions Required

    3. Reject

  • Revision Period: Authors are typically given 2 to 4 weeks to modify their manuscript and submit a "Response to Reviewers" document.

Stage 4: Re-evaluation (Month 5)

  • Verification: For "Minor Revisions," the Editor verifies the changes.

  • Second Round Review: For "Major Revisions," the revised manuscript may be sent back to the original reviewers to ensure the fundamental flaws were resolved.

  • Final Acceptance: Once the Editor is satisfied, a formal Acceptance Letter is issued.

Stage 5: Production & Proofing (Month 6)

  • Copyediting: The accepted manuscript undergoes language editing and layout formatting (Typesetting) to fit the IJTEMS journal style.

  • Galley Proofs: The PDF proof is sent to the corresponding author for a final check (fixing typos, author names, affiliations). Authors must return proofs within 48 hours.

Stage 6: Online Publication (Month 7 – 8)

  • Online First: The article is published online immediately as an "Article in Press" or assigned to the current open issue.

  • Indexing: Metadata is submitted to indexing databases.
